KimMarie Markel to Retire: Staffing Update
KimMarie Markel, M.S.Ed., will retire from Buffalo State as of May 31, 2026, after more than 25 years of service to our academic community. As coordinator of catalog and curriculum, KimMarie maintained and updated the DOPS Policy Library and the websites for general education and academic affairs. She managed and maintained all curriculum documentation, attended College Senate Curriculum Committee meetings, and assisted with SUNY and NYSED materials.
KimMarie worked collaboratively with offices across campus to ensure that course updates and academic programs remained accurate and current within the Undergraduate and Graduate Catalogs, Banner, the curriculum management system, and Degree Works. In support of Academic Affairs, KimMarie maintained accreditation, program review, and assessment files and provided technology and informational support on curriculum matters, including curricular revisions and program changes. Please join me in thanking KimMarie for her dedicated service to Buffalo State and in wishing her well in retirement.
Staffing Update
Following KimMarie’s retirement, Carolynn Krupp and Chris Hulsman will assume many of her responsibilities. Carolynn will maintain curricular and programmatic records and oversee curriculum-related processes. She will continue to provide support to faculty and associate deans regarding curricular revisions and approvals, submit Daily Bulletin announcements, interact with the College Senate Office, and serve as an administrator for curriculum management systems. In addition, Carolynn will manage content within the curriculum catalog and curriculum inventory platforms to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with academic policies. She will also continue supporting academic planning, assessment, and institutional initiatives through collaboration with campus stakeholders and Institutional Research, while providing expertise in the integration and effective use of technology related to planning, accreditation, assessment, and curriculum operations.
Chris Hulsman will continue to play a key role in the implementation and maintenance of the campus curriculum management system. Building on his experience supporting the former CourseLeaf platform, Chris has been instrumental in helping Buffalo State transition to the new Coursedog system. He has worked extensively to establish courses, academic programs, and rules within the system and will continue providing technical expertise and support for curriculum management operations. Both Carolynn and Chris will provide ongoing technical assistance and support for the curriculum management system.
Much appreciation goes to Carolynn and Chris for their continued dedication and willingness to take on these important responsibilities in support of our academic mission. Their expertise, collaboration, and commitment will help ensure continuity and continued excellence during this transition.
