Tell Students: Voter Empowerment Rally - October 24

Come one! Come all! We are gathering the SUNY Buffalo State community to celebrate our new on-campus polling site with a Voter Empowerment Rally on Thursday, October 24, from noon to 1:30 p.m. (Bengal Pause) in Campbell Student Union 100, also known as "The Pit." Speakers include Interim President Bonita Durand, Associate Professor Peter Yacobucci, Erie County Election Commissioner Ralph Mohr, Jeremy Zellner, and Brian Higgins. The program will start at 12:30 p.m.

We will celebrate our new on-campus polling location with “birthday” cupcakes and pizza. We will be giving out “Don’t Throw Shade. VOTE!” T-shirts, Bengal vote buttons, and other swag. There will be a table to have students get voter ready and another for the "Speak Your Mind" poster-making campaign. This event will also launch the ALL IN “Pledge to Vote” campaign for a chance to win a $100 gift card raffle to the Barnes & Noble at Buffalo State Bookstore.

The event is co-sponsored by the Bengals Vote Coalition; Civic and Community Engagement Office (CCE); Student Political Society student organization; SWK 302; Residence Life; Political Science, Public Administration, and Planning Department; and League of Women Voters Buffalo Niagara. Democracy is not a spectator sport. Let’s get out and vote!

Questions? Please email the CCE or call (716) 878-3919.
