Autumn Equinox Pumpkin Drop: Tuesday, September 23

Posted:

It’s that time of year again. Nothing says autumn more than watching a plummeting pumpkin smash onto pavement! In a decade old tradition, the Geosciences Department invites you to observe the Annual Autumn Pumpkin Drop, where we toss pumpkins from the top of Buckham Hall, on Tuesday, September 23. The event takes place from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.; the pumpkin drop will take place at 1:15 p.m. Swing by to celebrate the upcoming fall season. Come early to sign/decorate the large pumpkin (will bring good luck) and enjoy cider and cookies. There will be plenty of time left over to allow you to get to your classes afterward. The drop zone will be in Lot R-12, located on the southeast side of Buckham Hall. Look for the yellow tape cordoning off the drop zone.

As we did last year, an invitation goes out to campus clubs and organizations to decorate their own pumpkin and bring it for display and watch it drop from the roof. There will be a first-come five club or organization limit. Please contact Stephen Vermette, professor of geosciences, to receive your pumpkin.
