Big Dig VII: Help Us Plant Trees - October 18
Buffalo State is holding its seventh Big Dig tree planting (Big Dig VII) on Saturday, October 18 at 8:00 a.m. This popular pro-sustainability event engages faculty, staff, students, and community members. The primary sponsor is the Friends of the Buffalo State MGH Arboretum. Co-sponsors include the Buffalo State Grounds Department, Buffalo State Sustainability Club, and Buffalo State Rowing Club. More than 35 tall trees (between 12 to 14 feet tall) will be planted. The trees are all native to this area—including oaks, red bud, birch, and many more. In previous seasons, the group has planted trees along Grant Street, Campus Walk, and the Hank Mann Quad. This year, we will convene on Rockwell Road—in parking lots R-1 and R-2 at 8:00 a.m. The long-term impact is substantial. Benefits include carbon sequestration, pollinator support, air filtration, and beautification of the campus. There will be lots of coffee, plus breakfast. The event is lots of fun! All are welcome to help. Please register with Dr. Susan McCartney at mccartsa@buffalostate.edu.
