Data Science and AI Seminar Series: "Responsible AI Governance" - September 8

The Data Science and AI Seminar Series Fall 2025 presents "Responsible AI Governance," a presentation by Bianca Castro, AI governance and policy consultant 
at M&T Bank, on Monday, September 8, from 4:30 to 5: 45 p.m. in Bacon Hall 115 or zoom 718 6340613. 

The seminar will cover:

  • AI in Banking
  • AI Governance at M&T
  • Ethical AI 

Bianca Castro holds a B.A. in public policy from Syracuse University and an M.S. in public policy and management from Carnegie Mellon University. With five years of experience in data analytics consulting, she has partnered with local, state, and federal government agencies to drive data-informed decision-making and operational efficiency particularly in federal grants and public health. During graduate school, Ms. Castro worked with the State of Pennsylvania’s Office of Emerging Technology to help launch ChatGPT for government employees, creating training materials to address the operational and ethical risks of generative AI. She also conducted research at Bocconi University in Milan, Italy, analyzing the EU AI Act and its governance implications for private and public sector adoption. Originally from San Antonio, Texas, Ms. Castro is new to Buffalo and enjoys discovering local cafés, biking around the city, and searching for the best pizza slice.
