Title: Get Started with Databricks for Data Engineering
- Set up and navigate the Databricks workspace, including running Python and SQL notebooks and organizing your project assets.
- Explore Unity Catalog objects such as catalogs, schemas, tables, and volumes to understand data organization and governance.
- Ingest data from multiple sources, including local file uploads to Volumes and datasets from Databricks Marketplace.
- Transform raw data into analytics-ready tables using basic SQL and PySpark transformations.
- Visualize and query transformed data using notebooks and get a quick tour of the SQL Editor and dashboards.
Graduate of the Applied Mathematics Masters and Mathematics Bachelors programs at Buffalo State, with a background in teaching high school math, business, programming, Microsoft Office tools, and project management. Brings 8 years of experience at SAS Analytics as a technical developer creating workshops, courses, and pre sales demos focused on data engineering, analytics, and visualization. Currently works at Databricks as a technical curriculum developer, building hands on workshops and courseware for data engineering and data analytics audiences. Regularly writes technical blogs and records training videos to support learning and adoption.
