Data Science and Analytics Seminar Series: "Harnessing Generative AI and Large Language Models for Revolutionary Statistical Practice Efficiency, Insight, and Human-AI Synergy" - October 27
The Fall 2025 Data Science and Analytics Seminar Series presents "Harnessing Generative AI and Large Language Models for Revolutionary Statistical Practice Efficiency, Insight, and Human-AI Synergy," featuring invited speaker Dr. Ernest Fokoue, professor at Rochester Institute of Technology, on Monday, October 27, from 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. in Bacon Hall 115 (Zoom 718 6340613).
The presentation will focus on:
- Human-AI collaboration can supercharge clarity, reproducibility, and speed.
- Statistical DNA of LLMs, tracing their lineage through conditional probability modeling, maximum likelihood estimation, and regularization.
- Demonstration of practical use cases where LLMs can augment core statistical tasks—from exploratory data analysis and model interpretation to reproducible code generation and stakeholder-ready report writing.
Ernest Fokoue is a lifelong learner who continually enjoys exploring the breadth and depth of philosophical thoughts, mathematical reasoning and concepts, computational power, and definitely the niceties and subtleties of statistical models of reality among other things. He is devoutly ecumenical (inclusive) in his approach to mathematics, statistics, and science in general, and remains forever committed to debunking the deadly disease/heresy of intellectual tribalism. His unrehearsed joy and signature laughter/smile are his distinct and most remarkable features.
