The Fall 2025 Data Science and Analytics Seminar Series presents, "Winning Through Data: How Analytics and Wearables are Transforming Sports Performance," featuring invited speaker Katherine Aiken, dean of engineering and technologies at SUNY Erie, on Monday, November 24, from 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. in Bacon Hall 115 (Zoom: 718-6340613). 

The presentation will focus on:

  • Turning Performance into Data: How wearable technology captures real-time metrics that reveal what separates good athletes from great ones. 

  • Data-Driven Decisions: How analytics transformed coaching strategies, recovery plans, and player development to gain a competitive edge. 

  • From Insights to Championships: Real examples of how teams used data to predict outcomes, prevent injuries, and ultimately win titles. 

With over 25 years of experience, Katherine Aiken is recognized as one of the nation’s leading sport technology administrators. She has presented at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, attended elite seminars at Lake Placid, and worked with the same cutting-edge performance technologies used by international sport technologists to help the world’s best athletes reach peak performance. Aiken's unique perspective bridges data analytics and human behavior—understanding the motivators and stressors that influence performance while grounding every insight in measurable data. She holds five master’s degrees, including sport management and an MBA in technology management, reflecting her lifelong commitment to integrating technology, analytics, and leadership in the pursuit of athletic and organizational excellence.
