Learning Happens Through Unexpected Connections
At the Burchfield Penney Art Center, creativity is a catalyst for learning. We champion cross-disciplinary thinking and invite educators to reimagine how course material comes alive for students. Sometimes the most powerful learning happens through unexpected connections.
This spring 2026, the Art Center has two exhibitions designed to spark curiosity, conversation, and deeper student engagement across disciplines.
Patterned World: The Wallpaper Art of Charles E. Burchfield
This immersive exhibition offers rich opportunities to explore:
∙ Music and sound as visual rhythm
∙ History, pattern, and repetition
∙ Dance, movement, and layered design
∙ The natural environment as inspiration
∙ Photography, observation, and perception
∙ Graphic design and visual storytelling
The Sylvia L. Rosen Craft Art Biennial 2025
Bold, timely, and thought-provoking, this exhibition invites connections to:
∙ Words, lyrics, and narrative expression
∙ Blemished fruit and what we choose to discard
∙ Design and visions of the future
∙ Writing and how objects carry meaning
∙ The business and value of art
Art has the power to transform how students learn and to open new pathways for personal insight and academic discovery. We invite you to partner with us. Let’s talk about your course and explore how the Art Center can inspire in unexpected ways.
