Pre-health Advisement Assistance/"Training"
With fall 2026 advisement just around the corner (remember that many students can register for classes on April 1), we'd like to offer some advice and "training" for advisors who will be advising students planning a health- or allied health-related career. Please attend one of the sessions listed below or reach out to Amy McMillan or Shannon Casterline through the prehealth@buffalostate.edu email to set up a time to discuss pre-health/allied health advisement!
Pre-Health Advisement Session I: Thursday, February 26 @12:15 pm, SAMC 173
Pre-Health Advisement Session II: Wednesday, March 4 @3 pm on MSTeams join here
During these sessions we show you how to find your advisees who are pre-health and we will answer questions such as:
- My advisee wants to be a Dentist/Nurse/Doctor/X-Ray technician, etc. What do I do??
- My advisee plans to be a {insert health profession} but really struggled in {e.g., chemistry, biology, physics...}. What should I tell them? Who should they see?
- My advisee wants to know how to get ready for the MCAT (or any other professional exam). What should they do?
- What campus support for pre-health/allied health students and advisors are available now that Kelly Boos is retired?
- What courses should my advisee take if they want to pursue {insert health profession}?
We'll do our best to answer any questions you might have!
