Please join the Biology Department and the Great Lakes Center for the seminar “Rooted in Nature: Restoring, Preserving, and Maintaining the Diverse Flora of Western NY's Native Plants,” presented by Ken Parker on Monday, November 24, at 3:00 p.m. in SAMC 151. Attendees are welcome to arrive at 2:50 p.m. to enjoy coffee and cookies leading up to the seminar.

Summary: An introduction to native species and the original flora of the Western NY region. This presentation delves into the ecological significance, cultural importance, culinary uses, and advantages of native plants. By incorporating native species into our landscapes, we contribute to the preservation of natural food networks and provide support for species that are frequently threatened by urban expansion and invasive species.
